IELTS Speaking – Từ vựng chủ đề Music – Reading

Trong phần Speaking, chủ đề Music hay Reading là những câu dễ ăn điểm nhất, vì nó quen thuộc với bạn và rất dễ dàng để triển khai các ý trả lời. Tuy nhiên, bạn vẫn phải nắm được các từ vựng “đắt giá” để giúp những câu trả lời speaking của bạn được tự nhiên và hay hơn. I. Chủ đề MUSIC

Sự kết hợp của việc các bạn sử dụng kết hợp idioms khi trả lời sẽ thể hiện trình độ hiểu sâu và rõ Tiếng Anh của bạn. Chính vì vậy, đối với chủ đề Music, chúng mình sẽ cung cấp cho các bạn cả từ vựng chủ đề âm nhạc và những idioms liên quan một cách đầy đủ nhất nhé!

  • Sought-after: in demand: có nhu cầu

Example: I guess pop music is the most sought-after now. At least I’ve never met someone who completely doesn’t know a single pop song.

  • Mind-blowing: Sth overwhelmingly impressive: vô cùng ấn tượng

Example: It was 2014 that I finally did go to a concert on my own, obviously it was an international music concert. It was absolutely mind-blowing and unforgettable for me.

  • Adoring fan: a person who loves a particular band or singer: người hâm mộ

Example: I’m an adoring fan of Taylor Swift.

  • A catchy tune: a song that is easy to remember and makes you want to sing it: giai điệu bắt tai

Example: Since K-pop songs usually have catchy tunes, most teenagers are interested in those.

  • To download tracks: to obtain music from the Internet: tải nhạc

Example: It’s so easy to share and download tracks for free from the Internet. 

  • To go on tour: to go on a planned series of performances around a region or country: đi lưu diễn

Example: People commonly enjoy listening to music at concerts when a band goes on tour. 

  • A huge following: a large number of fans : một lượng người hâm mộ lớn

Example: Demi Lovato has a huge following worldwide. 

  • A massive hit: a record that sells lots of copies: một bản hit lớn

Example: “I will always love you” is an all-time massive hit. 

  • To sing along to: to join in singing: hát theo một cách dễ dàng

Example: The two women in Abba had great voices and it’s the kind of music you can also sing along to easily

  • Taste in music: the music someone likes: phong cách nhạc mà bạn yêu thích 

Example: She has a very unique taste in music.

  • To Blow one’s mind: to affect someone very strongly. (ảnh hưởng mạnh mẽ đến ai)

Example: The music was so amazing. It blew my mind

  • Set sth. to music: to write or provide music for a poemstory, or other words so that it can be performed. (phổ nhạc cho một bài thơ hoặc một câu chuyện)

Example: The composer managed to set the lyrics to music

  • To chill out: to relax (thư giãn)

Example: After a long day at school, I probably want to chill out for like half an hour with music to help me stay energetic so I can get back to work later.

  • Can’t help one’s self doing Sth: to continuously do Sth: (liên tục làm gì đó)

Example: I can’t help myself listening to K-pop music. 

  • To be in a bad/good mood: to be sad or happy

Example: I usually listen to cheerful music when I need motivation while sad music is my preference if I’m in a bad mood.

  • Pick up my energy: to get better, stronger

Example: Listening to some music helps me pick up my energy and chill a bit.

1. Từ vựng chủ đề Reading

  • Bedtime reading: a book you read in your bed before going to sleep. (đọc sách khi đi ngủ) 

Example: I’m really addicted to books! I can’t even fall asleep without an hour of bedtime reading.

  • E-reader: a gadget for reading books. (thiết bị đọc sách điện tử)

Example: My e-reader broke a few days ago, so now I’ll need to fix it or buy a new one.

  • From cover to cover: from the first page to the last. (từ trang đầu tiên đến trang cuối cùng) 

Example: I am a slow reader so it takes me a lot of time to read a book from cover to cover.

  • Hardcover: a book with hard cover. Opposite to softcover. (sách bìa cứng)

Example: My friend gave me a hardcover book as a present for my birthday.

  • Page-turner: a book that is so good that you cannot stop reading it. (quyển sách hay) 

Example: My sister recommended a great book. It was such a page-turner that I read it in one day!

  • Addictive: a book or film that you quickly become addicted to. (gây nghiện) 

Example: the “Harry Potter” series by Joanne Rowling is so addictive! I couldn’t stop after the first book and read all volumes.

  • Creepy: producing a sensation of uneasiness or fear, scary. (rùng rợn)

Example: Noah finds Stephen King’s stories creepy..

  • Intense: a book or film loaded with actions and emotions that evoke strong feelings. (mãnh liệt) 

Example: The play’s plot was very intense. Just a minute after a couple had a quarrel in the forest, the secret lover appeared and started a fire-fight.

  • Tear-jerking: tragic, making you cry. (bi thảm) 

Example: My sister is very emotional. I would rather watch a comedy with her than a tear-jerking movie!

  • thought-provoking: a book or film that makes you think of new ideas or that changes your attitude to something. (kích thích tư duy – truyền cảm hứng).

Example: Ray Bradbury’s novel “Fahrenheit 451” is deeply thought-provoking. I had to rethink my attitude toward legislation and censorship after I read it.

  • Don’t judge a book by its cover: a metaphorical phrase which means “you shouldn’t judge someone or something by its appearance alone”. (đừng trông mặt mà bắt hình dong) 

Example: When I first met Sam I didn’t find him handsome. But, as people say, don’t judge a book by its cover. He turned out to be the most interesting person I’ve ever met and we married soon!

  • To flick through: to look quickly through a book. (đọc lướt qua cuốn sách) 

Example: I flicked through my notes to prepare for the exam as didn’t have time to study properly.

  • To know as a book: to know something extremely well. (biết tường tận 1 người nào đó)

Example: I live in this city for my whole life and I know it as a book.

  • To read between the lines: to understand the hidden meaning about something. (hiểu ý nghĩa sâu xa của một vấn đề) 

Example: When I broke up with my girlfriend, I didn’t want anyone to know that. But Tom saw us in the different corners of the classroom and read everything between the lines. He’s very discerning.

  • To read upon: to read about (đọc về cái gì) 

Example: I often read upon modern literature. 

  • To have one’s nose in a book: to read a book (đọc một cuốn sách) 

Example: I always have my nose in a book. 

  • Sink one’s teeth into a book: to become completely involved in a book. (đắm chìm trong một cuốn sách) 

Example: I love detective books. I want something that I can sink my teeth to it.
