2/ Bài mẫu describe tet holiday
Introduction: I’d like to describe some of the most outstanding features of the Vietnamese Tet holiday.
What?
It is one of the most important national holidays in Vietnam as well as other Asian countries, also known as the Lunar New Year.
When?
Tet holiday celebrates the beginning of a new year according to the lunar calendar, which is around late January or early February.
Where?
People, wherever they are, all head back to their hometown to celebrate Tet with their loved ones.
How?
There are three main stages in this festival. Firstly, before New Year’s Eve, on the 23rd of the final month of the last year, Vietnamese families would do a ritual to send the Land Genie and Kitchen Gods off their way to heaven for them to report the family’s situation over the past year to Jade Emperor. During this time, the altar and furniture in the house are also cleaned and decorated with kumquat trees and peach blossoms. People also shop for new clothes to wear on the occasion as well as prepare a lot of food like Bánh chưng – a traditional cake made of sticky rice and pork, chicken and onion pickles for family gatherings.
Secondly, on New Year’s Eve, at the moment between the old year and the new year, a feast is presented in front of the family altar so the head of the family, usually father or mother, could make an offering to the ancestors and pray for health, happiness, and luck in the coming year. Then, some people would choose to stay in and enjoy the feast. Others would see the New Year in by watching a firework display in some open air.
Thirdly, it is our tradition that on the first three days, people visit their grandparents, relatives, and teachers. When people meet, they would eat, drink and sing cheerfully to wish one another a great year ahead. Kids would get best wishes from adults by receiving “Lucky money”.
Why? (~ Conclusion)
Tet holiday is a tradition of Vietnam that I love so much since it is the only occasion when all of my family members gather after a busy year. Besides, during Tet, I can completely unwind and forget all about the problems of the previous year.
For our culture, Lunar New Year has such significance because it not only helps to strengthen the family bond for the Vietnamese but also plays an essential role in preserving other traditional foods and rituals as well.

Third, I can visit pagodas and pray for a lucky coming year. in this festival. Moreover, I think if Tet holiday didn’t exist, many family members would drift apart due to the hustle and bustle of life. However, since we have Tet, everyone will have at least one or two days to have family gatherings and tighten the bonds with other members.
Why? (~ Conclusion): So, those are reasons why I would like to mention Tet holiday. I really wish it would be the Tet holiday tomorrow so that I could enjoy myself.
