Đề bài: People say that it is a waste of time for high school students to learn literature such as novels and poems. Do you agree or disagree?

Concerning high school education, there emerges an opposition against having literature studied. Advocates for this idea blame it on the unclear benefits of learning novels and poems. I, however, insist that literature would always be one of those essential subjects that need keeping in school.

Regarding linguistics aspects, literature enlightens students with multiple novelty ways to learn and use the language. From old-time to contemporary eras, novels and poems have been long used to record stories and events; therefore, different ways to express and convey ideas have been used and recorded in literary books. Many idioms, expressions, and variable meanings of words have been utilized and changed to adapt to the current society’s culture. Hence, the study of language use in literature will surely help students to be clear and culturally correct in communication.

Furthermore, in a more aesthetic angle, literature is the place where students can see how the beauty of a language shines its most. The comprehension of a language grace can hardly be complete without the experience of the learners. Therefore, only when students learn how poets rhyme verses like music notes and writers smartly play with words in a descriptive essay can they understand how graceful a language can be and the necessity to protect and preserve their mother tongue. Students who benefit from the recognition of language use also gain themselves an understanding of morals in the hidden message behind each tale or poem. It is the knowledge that will help to nurture a pure soul and build up a dignified personality, which is the ultimate goal of education.

Briefly, of all the existing subjects currently taught in high school, literature will always have my belief to be among those most important ones in which the future generation should invest their time.
